Study and Apply
Several years ago I was an independant consultant for a company called The Pampered Chef. Their unique line of kitchen products are becoming more and more well-known across the country.
When I signed up to sell these products I was pretty green. I had a lot of product to learn about, videos to watch on how to have a successful presentation, guarantees to memorize, and customer service to get acquainted with. But more than anything else, I needed to become familiar with the product myself. I needed to discover why I needed a Pampered Chef stone in my kitchen. Why should I convince you to buy a mini serving spatula I didn't use and love in my own kitchen?
For a week or so, I studied the manual that outlined the beaming qualities of this amazing kitchenware. But I also used the products on a daily basis in my kitchen. I was more and more convinced that this was going to be easy to sell. It really WAS amazing. I had stories of perfect cookies, quicker recipes, tips I knew my customers would love. The more I used the products the more convinced I was and the more confident I felt.
I realized I had to begin having shows without "knowing it all". I would never know every detail about each item in the catalogue. But I knew the company would back me up if I ran into a problem and I also had a director over me with much experience and many contacts. Whatever came up that I didn't understand, I could certainly find the answer to!
The Lord has loudly been applying these concepts to my spiritual life lately. I am His Ambassador. 2 Cor 5:20 reminds me of this. There is a manual I need to be studying daily so that I know truths essential for my success as a believer. Yes, the Word of God! It teaches me how to love, how to be free,how to walk in victory. If I fail to study the manual, how can I ever hope to have something to tell the people who need to know about Him?
And beyond that, the truths must be applied in my life. What I learn in the manual should daily be a part of my existance, my thinking, my habits, and my responses. Then the stories of His working in my life will be overflowing...miracles big and small abound when we are living and breathing with Him in our hearts and minds. Light bulb moments of revelation happen and we'll say....wow, I never saw that before...the Word comes alive to us.
Regarding our confidence....we will never know all there is to know. BUT, we have the most magnificent, all-knowing, all-powerful God backing us up. He has your back! When you don't know the answer to a question you're thrown, all you need to do is ask Him, look it up in the manual or ask a seasoned veteran to help you out.
I encourage you to seek Him for a fresh desire and hunger to learn from His Word. I pray it will come alive like you've never experienced before. I pray your confidence in who YOU are in HIM will grow and abound. And oh, how I pray you will eperience Him in your daily life. That HIS love will become larger in your hearts, that patience will abound, that self-control would increase and miracles would be expected and shared.
